I like everything you have said about being too complicated in interpretation, the idea of interpretation of a move should be around use in sparring and not just demonstration. My club recently looked at a different interpretation of cromphow where your crump needs to run along there blade and your action comes really close to your head. I felt the whole time like it was just unnecessary And more difficult to do in sparring. But to each their own I guess.
Use in sparring vs. demo I think also gets affected by HOW you do sparring, especially with many no/low gear Meyer clubs doin' thangs. If a certain interpretation risks nuking someone's fingers, do you then shy away from it because you practice with no gloves on? But that might be a whole other can of worms re: environmental impact on interpretive practices that has been the case from old school cobbled together HEMA gear era until now.

Yeah, I don't think I could ever practice hema without being able to hit my friends hands because they messed up.
