Fresh off the presses, I present excerpts from the personal journal of Joachim Meyer, sourced from the Stadt-Scheißekopf archives, dated April 20th, 1569. These two entries outline interesting aspects of his life, including the flex of his ideal training sword, his relationship to Achille Marozzo, and what his cat’s name was.
The transcription of these two records is difficult, as it seems that he may have written them while being slightly drunk. The chicken scratch on the paper is at least not faded by time or spilled on by libations. I believe the second entry includes a mention of his secret preference for thrust-based fencing with a longsword (“…Ich mag das stoßen mit dem langen-schwert lieber als das schlagen…)
I was unable to use my AI tools to decipher these entries, as even our computer overlords could not grapple with the squiggly lines and inconsistent notation.
And if you haven’t figured it by this point: April Fools. This is in fact my own day-to-day handwriting which is such complete garbage that it could pass for some 16th century scribbles. If you can figure it out I should award a prize! Weeeeeeee!
I love it. After understaning what I was looking at, the first few words in the handwriting now make sense.
Boooooo!
I looked at the image, and I was impressed with how well the ink was preserved. Then I read the post... :)
